Jake Palmisano, son of Terry and Beverly Palmisano of Pulaski, has been honored by the National Modified Midget Association for his exceptional racing season again this year. In a modified mini sprint car sponsored by Terry's Fuel and Service, Pulaski, Cache River Chevrolet, Ullin, IL, Mounds Stop and Shop, Mounds, IL, Brodrix Chassis, Robards, KY, Cairo Cleaners, Cairo , IL, and The Pennzoil Oil Company. Jake earned 1st place in national points in the A class of the National Modified Midget Association competition out of 350 nationwide participants. The National Modified Midget Association is an organization of racers throughout the continental U.S. Jake's championship car is a 2004 Brodrix Chassis, built by Broderick Burke of Robards, KY,powered by an R6 600cc Yamaha engine. Jake's accomplishments on the track this year also include Region 2 Champion which includes the states of Illinois and Indiana, Track Champion at Wayne County Speedway in Wayne City, IL, and Track Champion at Southern Illinois Raceway, Marion, IL. His season included 14 feature wins. Jake finished fourth in the nation in 2003 as well as achieving Region 2 Champion and Track Champion at Wayne County Speedway. Jake, a sophomore at John A. Logan College, began racing go-karts at 9 years of age and beganracing a modified mini sprint car four years ago. Competing in races at Southern Illinois Raceway in Marion, Wayne County Speedway in Wayne City, Cole County Speedway in Charleston, IL, TKRaceway in Draffenville, KY, Peru Raceway, Peru, IN, SEMO Raceway in Blodgett, MO, Sweet Springs Speedway in Sweet Springs, MO and at the Tulsa Shootout in Tulsa, OK, Jake has increased his racing skills and made a strong showing for his sponsors.
